How to Improve Sleep with Magnesium Lotion

Involved in more than 300 metabolic reactions, magnesium is essential to the human body. A deficiency in this mineral can cause a range of health issues, something I personally experienced.

Several years ago, I began having difficulty sleeping. I had never had any trouble before; I used to be able to lie down, fall asleep within 15 or 30 minutes, and wake refreshed. That was no longer the case. I would toss and turn for an hour or more, then grow anxious and restless that I was not asleep. The hour would turn into two, then four, and then before I knew it, I was awake most of the night. I knew I needed some help.

After running a few tests, one of them Red Blood Cell Magnesium, another a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, I discovered I was deficient in magnesium. Chronic stress can deplete magnesium very rapidly, along with other important minerals which can set you up to have poor detoxification of heavy metals and deplete your very important adrenal glands. Moreover, studies have shown that magnesium lotion may help relieve stress, boost productivity and energy, and offer relief from migraines.

How magnesium lotion helps improve sleep

Obviously, I was curious as to how a lotion could help improve my sleep. Magnesium lotion’s high absorption rate allows the mineral to better saturate and detoxify your skin cells and tissue. Magnesium lotions are made with Himalayan salt, which contains 84 out of the 92 macro-minerals and trace minerals the body needs for better function. Many magnesium lotions also contain essential oils, which help relax muscles and joints and improve blood circulation. (Poor sleep can definitely make your muscles feel tired and achy.) Make sure you use only the highest quality of oils and carrier oils.

How to use magnesium lotion for sleep improvement

Magnesium lotion is simple to use. You can apply it to specific areas of muscle ache or lightly all over. You may experience a slight tingle immediately after application, but an extended or burning sensation would require you to consult a doctor. For sleep improvement, spray it lightly on the bottoms of your feet and massage in. Make sure the rest of your bedtime routine is calm and soothing, and you will be fast asleep in minutes! Be sure to count this magnesium lotion in your total daily intake of magnesium.


Sometimes I need a little more help with calming my racing mind and this is where I rely on Magnesium Taurate, along with a combination of low dose melatonin, 5HTP, Valerian, and Hops.
